Coronavirus (Covid-19)

A Message from The Leadership Team – 2nd December 2021

It has been wonderful to be back in the church these last few months, having fellowship with one another and worshipping our Lord and Saviour. We would like to thank everyone for acting with care and consideration to others as we have met together.

We always knew that there were likely to be challenges over the winter and that is clearly the case now with the emergence of the new COVID variant and the updated regulations from government. These updated regulations do not place any extra restrictions upon churches in England and so we can continue to meet as we have been. However, it would be remiss of us to not keep under review our current measures or to not take seriously the concerns that this new variant brings.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the measures that are in place at GBC and request your continued cooperation with them:

  • Anyone experiencing even mild symptoms is requested to not attend church
  • Anyone being required to self-isolate must not attend church
  • Everyone is expected to sanitise their hands as they enter the church and throughout their visit as appropriate
  • Everyone is asked to be considerate of those who wish to socially distance
  • Windows and internal doors will be opened to allow cross ventilation (so you may want to wear an extra layer).

In addition to the above, there will now be a notice at the start of each service reminding those present of these requirements.

It is not mandatory for people to wear face coverings in churches in England and so we will not be imposing that at GBC. However, we note that the ongoing recommendation is that they are worn in enclosed and crowded spaces. Please feel free to wear them at church if you would like to.

We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of any changes as and when required. If you have any concerns, please speak to one of the Leadership Team about it.

As we begin Advent, let’s pray for God’s protection on our nation and pray that Christmas can be celebrated without need for lockdowns or isolation.

God bless,
The Leadership Team.
